The formulation difference between salon and home care.

The formulation difference between salon and home care.

Professional salon treatments often employ higher concentrations of active ingredients, such as certain protein hydrolysates or chelating agents, precisely because they are applied by a trained stylist in a controlled environment. The specific pH levels and processing times are carefully monitored to achieve immediate, dramatic results.

This professional oversight mitigates potential risks associated with potent compounds. A stylist understands how to prepare the hair, apply the product evenly, and rinse thoroughly to prevent residue or over-processing of the hair’s cuticle.

When these formulations are translated into products for daily home use, a significant recalibration is necessary. The expectation is that an individual will apply the product themselves, perhaps without exact measurements or uniform distribution.

Therefore, the ingredient profile must shift to prioritise safety and ease of use, ensuring consistent benefits without requiring expert skill. This often means adjusting the type and quantity of surfactants and emulsifiers.

For instance, a salon clarifying treatment might use stronger anionic surfactants to strip away build-up. An at-home clarifying shampoo, however, would opt for a milder blend, perhaps incorporating amphoteric surfactants, to maintain scalp balance over repeated washes.

Most conventional home haircare brands might simply dilute a salon-strength formula — leading to diminished efficacy. Evera, conversely, re-engineers its formulations from the ground up for the home context.

Our approach focuses on sustained, gentle conditioning and repair, using botanical extracts like cold-pressed prickly pear seed oil and specific polysaccharide complexes. These work synergistically to support the hair shaft and cortex over time.

The goal is not a singular, intensive intervention, but rather a consistent regimen that respects the hair’s natural physiology. We prioritise ingredients that offer progressive benefits without the need for strict professional application protocols.

This careful consideration of application context ultimately dictates the selection of every active ingredient and its concentration. It ensures that products are both effective and safe for regular, independent use.
